This project questions the concept of symmetry and its role in architecture, through an investigation of symmetry and the architectural use of symmetry. Partial drawings of the Pilgrimage Church of the Visitation by Bernardo Vittone were used to extract a symmetrical pattern. A new interpretation of symmetry was formed to produce an architectural object.
DTLA Pool House is a swim stadium in Downtown Los Angeles that takes the rectangular shape of an Olympic-sized pool and fits it into a circular volume. The project uses symmetry around axes points to generate an undulating form.
