The Torre di Venezia (The Tower of Venice) is a conceptual project that confronts the intricate implications of global warming on the city of Venice, Italy. Formulated initially from an external standpoint, the project materialized through rigorous research and comprehensive analyses of Venice’s intricate fabric. Subsequently, it delved deeper into its immersive manifestation, a result of an intensive three-week sojourn within the city of Venice.

Anticipating the city’s trajectory three decades ahead, the project envisions a Venice profoundly transformed by the surge in global sea levels, surmounting three meters. Amidst this altered reality, the city’s inhabitants find themselves grappling with the challenges of preserving their livelihoods within submerged dwellings. The Torre di Venezia stands as a collection of towers encircling the Venetian lagoon, poised to serve as the enduring abode for its denizens. These edifices, aspiring to forge a vertical rendition of Venice, interlink through elevated bridges traversing vertical waterways. The intricate network of narrow alleys echoes the essence of the historic city, imbuing the towers with an aura reminiscent of the past. The design centralizes all essential amenities within this vertical habitat, effectively addressing the practical requirements of modern life.

The Torre di Venezia project encapsulates a visionary response to the imminent challenges that climate change poses to cultural heritage and urban existence. By reimagining a resilient urban habitat, it not only counters the adversity precipitated by global warming but also reinvigorates the spirit of Venice, ensuring its endurance and continued vibrancy into the future.
